Buildings whose foundation was not designed or constructed with due care often get damaged.
In most cases, these damages manifest themselves in the form of settlement. In consequence
of the settlements, cracks appear in the building structures. The examination of the
damages usually begins with the exploration of the foundation of the damaged part of the
building, and continues with the exploration of the soil layers underneath the foundation,
as well as of the position and movement of the groundwater. For these examinations it is
extremely important to get to know the examined area and the environment well, and to
analyse the working processes performed previously nearby (construction of public utilities,
opening of a building pit, dewatering, etc.). Sometimes it comes to light during the
examination that the damage can be traced back not only to soil mechanics problems but to
structural ones as well. We can, of course, help our Customers in that case, too.
